WHY SUNNY OFFICE EXISTS
In early 2013 Katja wanted to escape the cold winter in Berlin and was surprised how much hassle it was to organize a place with good wifi in Southern Spain. She managed, but found no like-minded entrepreneurs at her location. Thus Katja decided to create the perfect coworking and coliving environment for entrepreneurs from all over Europe. This was how Sunny Office was born. The first event for freelancers and entrepreneurs took place in April 2013 and since then 5 – 7 events per year followed. In 2014 Tim and Ricarda joined the team and together they make sure to make Sunny Office a great experience every single time. We all work location independently and are spread all over Germany and Spain.
WHO ARE WE
Katja once worked as a consultant in a large company for over 5 years before she quit, because she needed the freedom to decide where and on what she was going to work. She is co-founder of Idea Camp, founder of Sunny Office and co-founder of Idea Lounge. She is passionate about helping others to create independence and freedom for themselves. She loves running by the beach, has a weakness for good food, likes the sauna and wants to speak Spanish completely fluently within this year.
Ricarda has been living in Spain for around five years and currently lives partly in Barcelona and partly in Andalusia. She fell in love with Andalusia, the region in the very South of Spain. With her language experience travels (SPANISCHLEBEN) she shows this wonderful, but currently pretty poor region to her guests and at the same time supports the local people. Before she worked for a long time as a language teacher and in organization management in language schools. She loves dancing salsa and flamenco and enjoys singing a lot.
Tim has been living in Barcelona for more than four years. He went there once for an internship and liked it a lot. At first he worked as an event manager - for Red Bull among others - in Germany. But after some time he decided to move back to his favorite destination and founded an event agency (Fair Appearance) in Barcelona. He has a strong network there and no matter what might be needed, he knows the right people in town. In his free time he practices Thai boxing nearly every day and takes advantage of the close beach for surfing.

I actually work full-time for a large IT-company. Virtual conferences and home office is quite common in my job and a fast Wi-Fi that allows secure VPN-access to the corporate’s network was a prerequisite. I am happy to say that I could manage my daily workload quite well without even anybody knowing that I was working from the pool under Spain’s sun. What I enjoyed even more was the exchange with likeminded people, entrepreneurs, freelancers and creatives. Willing to make the step into my own business one day there were plenty of opportunities to receive feedback to my ideas or to get an understanding of the aspirations and business models of others.
Sunny Office was a priceless experience to share time with great entrepreneurs, get their valuable feedback and have lots of fun together. The nice evenings and our trips to Barcelona and Sitges completed the unforgettable adventure of a comfortable environment, delicious food, perfect organization, concentrated work, good conversations and easy-going holiday feeling.
I have done more work here than in the last four weeks in the Netherlands.
I joined Sunny Office in Tenerife with no expectations, just wanted to get away to the sun and be around some interesting people. So I was really surprised that the discussions and feedback sessions we had actually gave me some great ideas for the future. And I learned lots about techy/digi/nomady stuff I’d had no idea existed beforehand. The sun was just an added benefit in the end!
I joined Sunny Office Gran Canaria to meet other online entrepreneurs and enjoy the island at the same time. It was a fun, inspiring time and I made some valuable connections.
